Our story

L. Fournier & Fils continues to draw on its past to build a prosperous present and a promising future

From its beginnings as a family business in the 1930s to its current status as one of Canada’s best-managed companies, Fournier continues to draw on its past to build a prosperous present and a promising future.

1936

With just a dozen pieces of equipment at their disposal, Fournier et Frères officially goes into business

1970 to 1972

Fournier et Frères became L. Fournier & Fils, officially marking the union of two generations and the expansion into excavation, road construction, crushing, and civil engineering. For several decades, the three brothers worked together to grow and strengthen the company, continuing this union until 2013.

1979

A decisive year in terms of diversification of our business activities. This period also marks the inauguration of our first factory producing premixed concrete, symbol of our expansion.

In 1993, the company inaugurated its bagged products factory. A unique factory in Eastern Canada.

1994

A year marked by the sadness of the loss of Mr. Léo Fournier, visionary founder of Fournier and Frères.

2012

Beginning of our first partnership with a Cree enterprise from the community of Mistissini, Quebec, which leads to the opening of the Swallow-Fournier division. This partnership marks a new chapter in our commitment to local economic development.
